We are seeking a Health, Safety and Environmental Lead to join a well-established, high-volume FMCG manufacturing site near Newcastle upon Tyne. This is a key leadership position, forming part of the Site Leadership Team, with responsibility for driving compliance, improving performance and embedding a strong and sustainable safety culture.
Responsibilities
* Act as the senior HSE lead on site, providing leadership, coaching and direction to improve safety culture and environmental performance across all operations
* Develop, implement and maintain HSE systems and procedures, ensuring full compliance with UK legislation and recognised standards such as ISO 45001 and ISO 14001
* Partner with the Site Leadership Team to deliver strategic HSE objectives, using performance data, audits and engagement to drive continuous improvement
* Lead risk management and incident investigation processes, including risk assessments, root cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventative actions
* Manage relationships with regulators, auditors and external partners, while overseeing HSE training, budget and capital projects to support long-term risk reduction and compliance
Qualifications
* NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent Level 6 Health and Safety qualification
* Environmental qualification such as IEMA Certificate or equivalent
* Proven experience in a senior HSE role within FMCG, manufacturing or a similar high-risk environment
* Experience influencing senior stakeholders and contributing as part of a leadership team
* Strong knowledge of UK health, safety and environmental legislation and its practical application
* Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to drive cultural change
