Overview
Qualified Teaching Assistant to work with a child with a visual impairment. Permanent contract. The successful candidate will either already have knowledge of Braille or be prepared to undertake training in order to support the child to use Braille.
27.5 hours per week (0.6559 FTE) £26,403 pro rata
Granby is a village school in the heart of the city, providing an opportunity for the right candidate, in a friendly, supportive and child-focused context. The children, staff and governors are looking to appoint an excellent SEND teaching assistant to join our team. Start date to be confirmed. Granby has a fascinating history and is housed in a Victorian building, which opened in 1889. Whilst it is clearly of its time, we offer contemporary facilities and equipment to provide the best in current educational provision. With around 460 children on roll, and a staff of over 80 people, we are a thriving school at the centre of our local community.
The child concerned is currently in our Reception class. The role is one-to-one with the child and the post holder will move through the school with the child. The post may come to an end if the child's needs change or if the child moves to another school. The successful candidate will either already have knowledge of Braille or be prepared to undertake training in order to support the child to use Braille.

Successful applicants will be invited to interview, which will take the form of a formal interview and a 20-minute observation of a one-to-one session with a SEND child. There will also be an opportunity to have a go on a Braille machine.
