Job Title: Personal Assistant / Support Worker
Outline of Role
To provide high-quality, person-centred support for an individual with profound learning disabilities, enabling them to live safely, comfortably, and with dignity in their own home.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide personal care, health and medical needs, daily living activities, participation in community life, and ensure a clean, safe, and comfortable home environment.
* Follow individual care plans, risk assessments, and health protocols.
* Assist with personal hygiene and dressing.
* Support medication and epilepsy management.
* Promote independence and choice wherever possible.
* Encourage engagement in preferred activities and community outings.
* Record health information and report concerns promptly to manager and healthcare professionals.
* Deliver behavioural and emotional support: provide reassurance, recognise behavioural cues, respond with positive behaviour support techniques, encourage preferred activities such as listening to music or sensory activities.
* Use knowledge of non‑verbal communication to meet needs and support social inclusion and community access.
* Safeguard in line with Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, Equality Act 2010, GDPR, CQC standards; maintain confidentiality.
* Maintain accurate daily notes, medication records, and incident reports.
* Work collaboratively with colleagues, healthcare professionals, and family members.
* Attend mandatory training (epilepsy, first aid, safeguarding, moving & handling, behaviour management) and engage in supervision and continuous professional development.
* Provide meal preparation, domestic care, social and leisure activities, and support to remain independent.

Other Information
* Car driver preferred due to community access needs.
* Training and supervision provided.
* Enhanced DBS check required (cost covered).
* Full UK driving licence is required.
* Safe medication administration and epilepsy awareness training.
* First aid and hand hygiene training required.
* Essential PA Guide, safeguarding adults/children, moving & handling, understanding challenging behaviour, food hygiene, autism/Aspergers knowledge.
All support must be delivered in line with UK legislation and best practice guidelines.
