The role
As a Mechanical Fitter, you’ll play a vital role in maintaining and repairing critical systems on Royal Navy vessels. This is an opportunity to work on projects that truly matter—supporting national security while advancing your career in a dynamic, high-tech environment. You’ll join a multi-skilled team where your expertise will help keep submarines and surface ships operational, ensuring safety and performance at every level.
Day-to-day, you’ll have the following responsibilities:
1. Completing planned preventative maintenance and repair work to meet operational objectives.
2. Identifying and fixing system defects and implementing alterations to maintain vessel performance.
3. Suggesting process improvements to boost productivity and efficiency.
4. Working within Health & Safety legislation and safe systems of work.
5. Performing tasks in confined spaces and at varying heights safely and effectively.
This is a full-time, permanent role, 36 hours per week, based on-site at Clyde.
Essential experience of the Mechanical Fitter:
6. Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter.
7. Background in a highly regulated environment.
8. Ability to work safely in confined spaces and at height.
Qualifications for the Mechanical Fitter:
9. A recognised Mechanical Fitter Apprenticeship to N/SVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
10. National Certificate in an engineering discipline.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) clearance for this role.
