Senior Radiographic Department Assistant
Band 3 – Senior Radiographic Department Assistant. This busy, friendly X‑Ray department has a vacancy for a Senior Radiology Assistant. The post will involve rotation to Ultrasound, CT, Fluoroscopy, Interventional Radiology, MRI and other areas within the radiology department.
The department is based across numerous sites including Royal Liverpool Hospital, Aintree University Hospital, Broadgreen Hospital and multiple community sites. The job role will involve rotation across these sites.
Responsibilities include:
* Providing assistance with X‑ray procedures and preparing patients for imaging investigations or procedures daily.
* Setting up and assisting in sterile procedures, post‑procedure aftercare, and aiding radiographic staff in both inpatient and outpatient working.
* Assisting with patient care needs, including toileting, dressing and assisting the patient on and off the examination table.
* Assisting with examinations, some of which include the use of intravenous contrast agents and drugs associated with those individual procedures.
* Assisting with a variety of interventional procedures on a daily basis dependent on work area.
* Cannulation of patients and removal of IV cannulas when required.
* Correct labelling of all samples taken and delivering samples to the laboratory within identified timescales.
* Undertaking venepuncture for specific procedures and recording results on the relevant IT system.
* Undertaking patient observations and recording appropriately in all relevant areas of work if required.
* Performing ECGs as part of the patient preparation for certain procedures.
* Planning and organising own day‑to‑day tasks within the parameters set out by the supervising staff.
* Participating in rotation through all sites within LUHFT.
* Ensuring the maintenance of clinical care standards, treating patients with dignity and respect, and escorting, chaperoning and supporting patients during treatments.
Qualifications and Experience:
* NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in a health‑care based area is essential.
* Previous NHS health‑care experience is an advantage.
* Experience in multidisciplinary team working with radiographers, sonographers, nursing and medical staff.
This role requires participation in 7‑day working which includes evenings, weekends and bank holidays, and scope for weekend, evening and bank holiday working is also expected. All staff are expected to be flexible across the various sites.
