Introduction to YSJ University

York St John is an ambitious, modern university at the heart of historic York and there has never been a more exciting time to join us.

As one of the fastest-growing universities in the U.K. over recent years, we have a new strategy for the next decade, emphasising our commitment to widening opportunity through the power of education and contributing our talents to creating a fairer world and a more prosperous region. We are putting inspirational learning and impactful research at the heart of this strategy, recognising our academic expertise as our greatest asset.

The Team

The successful candidate will join the existing team of three lecturers to contribute to curriculum development, student support and programme delivery. A clinician with advanced contemporary skills and knowledge, and experience working with adults, is desirable but not essential. The successful candidate will be supported by a skilled and enthusiastic team at the university to develop teaching and learning, as well as research skills and knowledge, within the field of Speech and Language Therapy.

The Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Speech and Language Therapist to join our expanding team within the School of Science, Technology, and Health, to develop the new MSc Speech and Language Therapy programme. Launching in September 2025, this is an exciting opportunity to contribute to and shape the delivery of high-quality education for the next generation of speech and language therapists.

Key Requirements

Applicants should have contemporary knowledge and experience of Speech and Language Therapy and hold current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council as a Speech and Language Therapist. Membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists and a postgraduate-level qualification are desirable but not essential.

Experience working with students, involvement in programme development, or the ability to develop external partnerships would be a distinct advantage.

Additional Information

For informal enquiries, please contact Shona Corker and Sophie Sampford, Lecturers in Speech and Language Therapy, via email. Shona and Sophie work part-time, so please copy them both into your email at s.corker@yorksj.ac.uk and s.sampford@yorksj.ac.uk for a timely response.

It is anticipated that the selection process will include an interview and presentation.

This role is eligible for Skilled Worker visa sponsorship, provided the relevant UKVI requirements are met. At this time, we're only able to consider sponsorship for candidates who are currently based outside the UK.
