We are looking for an enthusiastic and caring band 5 staff nurse who would like to join our small friendly team within the rheumatology department. The post holder will participate in administering intravenous medications to day case patients plus support the Specialist Nurses in other aspects of care including monitoring patients on disease modifying medications and administration of osteoporosis medications. The post gives the opportunity for individual nursing care and the ability to be an integral part of the continuing care for patients with rheumatological conditions.
Main duties of the job
·To administer biologic and osteoporosis infusions to rheumatology patients
·To administer cytotoxic medications to rheumatology patients after appropriate training and course attendance
·To participate in monitoring patients on disease modifying, biologic and osteoporosis medications through the departmental database
·Support the Rheumatology Specialist Nurses with aspects of care according to both patient and departmental need
·Have an interest in osteoporosis disease management.
·To maintain pharmacy and clinical stock levels

Education and Qualifications
Essential criteria
10. NMC registered
11. Post qualification experience in relevant speciality
12. Mentoring qualification
Desirable criteria
13. SACT trained or willing to attend course
14. Evidence of continued professional development
Experience
Essential criteria
15. Previous IV administration experience
16. Ability to work as part of a team
17. Venepuncture and cannulation skills
18. Good verbal and written communication skills
19. IT skills including use of databases and Office
20. Good time management skills
21. Awareness of current and professional nursing issues
22. Post registration experience in an acute setting
23. Understanding of clinical governance

24. Experience of audit or quality improvement projects
25. Experience of working with students/willingness to develop teaching skills
