Home and Community Support Advisor
The Home and Community Support Advisor will undertake Risk Assessments in the child or young person's home and in community activity settings and will advise the Sessional workers if safe working practices and will provide moving and handling care plans and ensure that sessional workers comply with such plans.
This is an exciting opportunity to assist the Short Breaks Care Team in the general organisation and coordination of sessional workers. Supporting sessional workers in responding to a range of staff concerns, processing timesheets, addressing payroll issues, monitoring compliance with working time directives, recording sickness absence and arranging cover at short notice. The role will also involve low level case holding for a number of children.

About the role
The role of the Home and Community Support Advisor is to plan, prepare and team lead group activities that meet the needs of the Children and Young people attending. This will include:
2. Responding to the general enquiries and referrals to the Short Breaks service and to any urgent referrals in the absence of the Short Breaks Operations Manager and the Home and Community Support Managers.
3. Support with the link of sessional workers with children and young people according to the skills and abilities of the workers and the assessed needs of the children and young people.
4. Involvement in the planning, recruitment, supervising and training of new and current sessional workers.
5. Providing supervision to seasonal workers and ensuring practice complies with the National Minimum Standards for Domiciliary Care and Achieving for Children Policies.
About you
The successful candidate for the Home and Community Support Advisor will demonstrate the following points:
6. NVQ level 3 in child care award or willingness to work towards this qualification.
7. Experience of direct working with children and young people with disabilities in a health, education, social care or voluntary setting.
8. Good verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to use different communication styles and techniques to present ideas and influence others.
9. Experience or willingness to arrange and lead training sessions with internal or external trainers, as and when required to attend weekend and school holiday training events.
10. Willingness to participate in relevant training as per the role requirements and keep up to date with developments in the specialist field of children and young people with disabilities.
