The CotE team at Furness General Hospital (FGH) consists of 3 substantive CotE/Stroke physicians based on a 36-bed elderly care/general medicine/stroke ward and providing outreach to ED for front door frailty and stroke assessments, orthopaedics, and the 20-bed community ward.
Consultants are supported by 3 ACPs in Frailty, a Nurse Consultant, and 5 ACPs in stroke, along with front door and stroke therapy support. Sub-specialty training in stroke medicine is encouraged.

We are looking for an enthusiastic physician to join the Care of the Elderly Team at Furness General Hospital. The post holder would be expected to contribute to expanding services, including a Virtual Ward to support the increasing number of elderly patients attending FGH. There is an active Day Hospital at FGH providing daily clinics including Falls/TIA/General medicine.
This is a full-time post incorporating on-call duties and personal SPA time.
The Hospitals are situated on the edge of the Lake District National Park, offering access to outdoor and recreational activities in a scenic setting.
UHMB has a keen interest in Medical and Dental Education at Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels, working with Health Education England North West (HEENW), the General Medical Council (GMC) and local medical schools to provide education and training meeting regulatory requirements and high standards of patient care. UHMBT provides clinical placements for medical students and supports doctors in training, specialty doctors, GP trainees, and consultant education development.
