Buckingham Futures is working with a Local Authority in the East Midlands who are looking to appoint an experienced Environmental Protection Team Leader on a hybrid working basis. This is a 3 month temporary contract.
The Role:
This is a key leadership position where you’ll be managing and developing a team of Environmental Protection Officers. You’ll oversee a wide range of functions including noise, air quality, contaminated land, light pollution, and statutory nuisance enforcement, while ensuring compliance with environmental legislation and council policies.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead, coach, and manage a team (including 1-1s and performance management)
* Oversee enforcement activities, including serving notices and prosecutions
* Respond to planning consultations across environmental protection disciplines
* Advise senior management and elected members
* Work collaboratively with internal departments (e.g. planning, housing, waste) and external stakeholders
* Contribute to service planning, budgeting, and reporting
About You:
* Proven experience in Environmental Protection / Environmental Health
* Strong leadership and team management experience
* In-depth knowledge of environmental legislation and case law
* Extensive enforcement experience
* Confident dealing with the public and stakeholders
Additional Requirements:
* Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential)
* Willingness to work outside normal office hours when required
Package:
* Rates are £47per hour (Umbrella) Hybrid working pattern
