Swanwood Partnership in Wickford is looking to appoint an experienced practice manager to lead our organisation on a part-time basis of which hours are negotiable. We are not a traditional general practice and we are not looking for a traditional practice manager - we are looking for someone who wants to be part of something evolving, not someone to maintain the status quo. You will; Shape and influence how the practice operates day-to-day Lead and develop a committed administrative and reception team Strengthen systems, processes and performance Play a key role in supporting the partners to deliver high-quality patient care You will not be expected to carry the practice alone but you will be expected to lead, take ownership, and bring solutions. The main responsibilities of the role include but not limited to: Overall responsibility for the day-to-day running of the surgery including staff management. Leading the primary care services, to ensure that the practice meets regulatory and contractual standards whilst remaining financially viable. Providing solid leadership, based on a sound knowledge of business management, finance, planning and human resource management, including recruitment. Driving innovation and modernisation. Meeting the reporting requirements of the partnership and complying with local and national KPIs and contracts; Co-ordinating and leading the operational delivery of the services in the practice, engaging with staff, patients and local commissioners. Attending local meetings, to represent the surgery, and reporting to partners. Developing effective partnership, with other organisations, to benefit the practice. Taking responsibility for security, repairs, insurance and maintenance of the premises, services and equipment. Handling patient enquiries and suggestions, including oversight of the practice-based complaints procedure in conjunction with the relevant partner. Handling practice publicity and health education materials. About the Candidate If you are an experienced practice manager looking for a new challenge, then we would love to hear from you. All applicants should have the following skills and qualifications: A relevant qualification in business management, or equivalent qualification or experience Detailed and up-to-date knowledge of employment legislation, as well as experience in managing a diverse workforce Strong skills and experience in HR, premises management, IT and complaint handling Prior experience of leadership and personnel management, ideally within a healthcare setting Ability to deliver a vision, with a willingness and the drive to adapt to NHS targets and business planning, whilst keeping abreast of legislative and contractual changes Self-motivated, with a forward-thinking, solution-focused approach The ability to develop, implement and embed policies, procedures and guidelines Experience of working in an ever-evolving environment, with an ability to cope with regular change Excellent organisational, management and planning skills, IT skills and communication skills Ability to implement and manage change effectively Ability to identify training and development needs in self and other as well as experience of appraising staff C onfident working in a partner-led environment Hands-on and visible, not desk-bound Can balance structure with flexibility Comfortable being held accountable and holding others to account Brings energy, ideas, and resilience About Us We are a forward-thinking, partner-led surgery serving approximately 7,000 patients, with a strong focus on collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
