Financial Accountant

Birmingham

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a driven and detail-focused Financial Accountant to join a successful and growing organisation within the facilities and services space. This role offers the chance to play a key part in delivering accurate financial reporting, strengthening controls and supporting strategic decision-making across the business.

The Role

As the Financial Accountant, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data across multiple entities while supporting month-end, budgeting, forecasting and statutory reporting cycles. You will work closely with internal stakeholders and external auditors, helping the business maintain strong financial governance and performance.

Key Responsibilities

* Maintain accuracy of the trial balance, including revenue recognition, accruals, prepayments, provisions, fixed assets and journals
* Prepare monthly management accounts (P&L, balance sheet and cash flow) with variance analysis
* Lead budgeting and forecasting cycles in line with group requirements
* Produce monthly board packs and quarterly performance reports
* Manage intercompany reporting and support IFRS16 submissions
* Prepare statutory accounts across multiple legal entities
* Manage year-end audits and ensure compliance with internal controls
* Complete balance sheet reconciliations and support capex appraisals
* Oversee payroll postings and associated account reconciliations
* Provide financial insights to management around overheads and performance
* Support wider teams with costing and ad-hoc financial analysis
* Line manage and mentor an Assistant Accountant

About You

* Qualified accountant (ACA or ACCA)
* Strong experience in statutory reporting, management accounts and balance sheet reconciliations
* High proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
* Strong stakeholder management, communication and organisational skills
* Comfortable working in a fast-paced, multi-entity environment
* Detail-driven, proactive and committed to delivering high-quality work

Desirable but not essential

* Experience within a large organisation or facilities / construction sector
* Exposure to Microsoft Business Central
* Experience with tax returns and year-end reporting
