Overview
Service Technician - Kendal Depot
If you love being a vehicle technician but you’re thinking “I fancy a change”, or you have been thinking “how about a career change” and “I want more variety” or “I want better hours”, then we may just have exactly what you’re looking for!
Those customers rely on our services to get them to work, to the high street, to hospitals, to days away and nights out – and as part of our engineering team you’ll be a key part in making sure our bus fleet at Gillmoss Depot is in tip top condition to do just that. From Oil changes to Dpf Maintenance and everything in between. It’s a really important role within the garage, so we’ll make sure you’re as looked after as our vehicles are!
Don’t worry if you’ve not worked on buses – we’ll train you on everything you need to know, and you’ll be supported by a great team of Fitters, fellow Technicians, Electricians and Engineering Managers who all pull together to do a brilliant job.
Responsibilities
* Carry out oil changes, DPF maintenance and related servicing to keep the fleet in top condition.
* Work as part of the engineering team with Fitters, Technicians, Electricians and Engineering Managers.
* Follow training and development plans to expand skills and knowledge.
Benefits
* Job security – we’ve been going since 1980, we turn over £1.3bn and we’re not planning on hanging our boots up anytime soon!
* Free travel – for you and your companion on our buses. That means on your days off you can be off shopping for free without worrying about parking the car, or heading off for a day in the city without paying a fortune in petrol or train fares!
* A great regular income and great benefits– £14.20 per hour. Plus a good pension scheme to look after you after you’ve hung up the spanner!
* Promotions– exposure to work which will develop your skills and experience to allow you to progress your career further. Many of our Stagecoach Cumbria and North Lancashire Engineering Managers started off as Apprentice Technicians.
* Training – a dedicated high level training programme to reinforce the skills you already have and an opportunity to gain a qualification in another trade!
Qualifications
You don’t have to come from a bus background (but we wouldn’t be put off if you did either!), but you will need to have an interest in working in an engineering technician field. Applicants will be required to hold a full UK driving licence.
