Our Youth Impact domain creates impact for children and young people. We also provide training for professionals. Our value driven team change the lives of children in this country for the better - and with your help and expertise, tomorrow we can support even more.

About the role:
You’ll play a key part in our Space to Grow service, You will provide tailored emotional wellbeing support to children aged 8–13 and their parents/carers through face-to-face, digital and telephone interventions. The role involves assessing needs, setting goals, and supporting children’s recovery using a stepped-care approach, while building strong, trusting relationships with families.

You will work collaboratively with partners, manage safeguarding concerns, maintain accurate records, and contribute to monitoring outcomes and service evaluation. Creativity, cultural awareness and trauma‑informed practice are essential, alongside a good understanding of child mental health, risk management and safety planning.
The role also requires commitment to reflective practice, supervision and continuous professional development, empowering children’s voices, supporting volunteers where appropriate, and contributing to the quality, governance and development of the wellbeing framework.

Skills & abilities:
You will be an effective communicator with strong IT and administration skills, able to confidently use data and recording systems. You should work well as part of a team and with partner organisations, building positive, therapeutic relationships with children and families in a non‑judgemental, anti‑discriminatory way. Experience undertaking risk assessments is essential. Experience using digital/virtual platforms, supporting service improvement, audits or research, and holding a relevant qualification (health, social care, youth work, counselling or equivalent) is desirable.

Knowledge:
You will have a good understanding of children’s emotional and mental health presentations, evidence‑based interventions, and the social, biological and economic factors that impact wellbeing. A strong knowledge of safeguarding and the challenges children and young people face when accessing mental health services is essential, alongside experience of delivering positive wellbeing outcomes through partnership working. Knowledge of therapeutic approaches (e.g. CBT, DBT, solution‑focused work), NICE guidance, governance, and youth work principles is desirable.

Experience:
You must have experience working directly with children aged 8–13, delivering 1:1 support and group work using a person‑centred approach, completing assessments, and working in partnership with others. Experience in early intervention or brief intervention services, and/or supporting wellbeing in educational settings, is an advantage.
