As a Primary Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising classes during the short-term absence of the class teacher. Your main objective is to maintain a positive and productive learning environment, ensuring pupils remain engaged with pre-set work. This role is perfect for individuals who enjoy working with children, are adaptable, and want to gain valuable school experience without the long-term commitments of a teaching role.
Responsibilities:
1. Supervising primary school pupils during the absence of the class teacher.
2. Ensuring pupils remain on task with pre-set work provided by the school.
3. Managing classroom behaviour in line with the school’s policies and procedures.
4. Promoting a positive and respectful learning environment.
5. Responding to general queries from pupils and offering support where needed.
6. Reporting any concerns regarding pupil behaviour or progress to the relevant staff member.
7. Maintaining clear communication with school staff.
8. No planning or marking required – focus purely on classroom supervision!
Requirements:
9. Previous experience working with children in a school setting.
10. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, building rapport with children and staff.
11. A confident, proactive, and adaptable approach to different school environments.
12. The ability to follow instructions and pre-set work effectively.
13. Reliability, punctuality, and a professional demeanour.
14. An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one through us.
15. A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
