Support Worker Children Residential
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to join a team in a Children’s Residential Home. The role involves providing emotional and practical support to children and young people with mental health needs and learning disabilities, helping them feel safe, cared for, and empowered to achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide day-to-day care, support, and supervision
2. Build positive, trusting relationships with children, acting as a consistent role model
3. Support children in their daily routines, including personal care, meals, education, and recreational activities
4. Promote the physical and emotional development of each child, helping them build self-esteem and independence
5. Maintain a clean, safe, and nurturing home environment in line with health, safety, and safeguarding regulations
6. Contribute to individual care plans and support plans, working collaboratively with colleagues, families, social workers, and other professionals
7. Keep accurate records, including daily logs, incident reports, and updates for multi-agency meetings
8. Respond calmly and effectively to challenging behaviour, using approved behaviour management strategies
Requirements:
Essential:
* 6 months experience working with children or vulnerable individuals
* Understanding of safeguarding, mental health, and trauma-informed care
* Excellent communication, empathy, and problem-solving skills
* Ability to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends
* A valid DBS check or willingness to undergo one
