We have an exciting opportunity within Staffordshire's Adult Learning Service for a committed and enthusiastic Employability Tutor to join our team. Our Skills for Life Tutor - Employability, will work closely with the wider team and will therefore adopt the responsibilities outlined in the Community Learning Tutor job description. As this role is advertised as a Skills for Life Tutor position, the postholder will be expected to uphold the full professional standards associated with the wider Skills for Life delivery model. This role will involve working with referrals from our Resettlement Team, part of the Children and Families Directorate, to deliver a bespoke and carefully designed employability programme, which supports adults settling in Staffordshire. The programme aims to help learners develop the language, confidence, employability skills and knowledge they need to live prosperous, independent lives, contribute to the local economy and build a strong sense of belonging within their communities. You will play a key role in supporting residents to progress towards work, training, volunteering and community participation, making a meaningful and lasting impact on individuals and families across the county. Teaching will take place in community venues across all districts of Staffordshire, to ensure accessible, localised learning. As this post is part of a funded initiative, it forms part of a three-year project scheduled to run until 31 March 2029.
Main Responsibility
* Plan, deliver and evaluate high-quality employability programmes tailored to adults with language needs (English Speakers of Other Languages- ESOL), including those settling in the UK through resettlement schemes.
* Develop accessible, engaging learning materials that help learners build confidence, job‑seeking skills, digital capability and awareness of workplace expectations.
* Support learners to prepare for employment through CV development, interview skills, job‑search techniques, and understanding UK workplace culture.
* Carry out robust initial assessments to identify learners' starting points, strengths, barriers and aspirations.
* Use Recording And Recognising Progress and Achievement (RARPA) processes to set individual learning goals, monitor progress and evidence achievement.
* Work in partnership with the Resettlement Team, employment brokers, employers, community organisations and referral partners to support learner progression and widen participation.
* Maintain accurate learner data, ensuring compliance with funding requirements, audit processes, safeguarding procedures and quality standards.
* Contribute to continuous quality improvement, curriculum development and service‑wide Skills for Life initiatives.
* Create a welcoming, inclusive and supportive learning environment that motivates and empowers learners.
You'll need:
* A recognised teaching qualification.
* Experience delivering employability, skills‑based or adult learning programmes, or strong transferable experience from training, employability support, coaching or community development.
* Good understanding of the barriers faced by adults entering or re‑entering the labour market, including migrants, refugees and those with limited English.
* Strong digital skills and confidence using online tools to enhance teaching, learning and assessment.
* Excellent communication, problem‑solving and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and build trust with learners.
* A flexible, collaborative and learner‑centred approach to supporting diverse adults towards positive outcomes.
