Team Manager role
In this role you will be working alongside colleagues in leading and managing the Assessment and Review Team, based at Care Direct Plus in Exeter.
The team is comprised of a talented group of Social Care Assessors, who receive and respond to incoming contacts and referrals for Adult Social Care.
The team offer advice and signposting, and undertake assessment in line with the Care Act, primarily via the telephone. This includes applying a strengths-based approach to promote safety and independence, and referring onto to other teams and services when required.
You will be overseeing the quality standards of the interventions and assessments undertaken by the team, managing practice and workflow, and providing expert advice, working closely with partner agencies and the voluntary sector in support of effective service delivery.
You will be fostering a positive and collaborative work environment, and support staff in engaging with a range of stakeholders as part of joined-up arrangements for the delivery of services to the public. You will be supporting the team in taking an asset-based approach which seeks to optimise opportunities for people to reduce and delay the need for formal care and support.
About you
This post is suitable for an experienced and qualified Social Worker or Occupational Therapist registered to practice with Social Work England or the Health and Care Professions Council.
It will suit someone who has experience of a previous management role or an ambitious and experienced Social Worker or Occupational Therapist who is looking for an opportunity to gain managerial experience, in a busy and supportive setting.
You will need to demonstrate a proven track record of undertaking case management in social care or health environments, with a working knowledge of the Care Act. You will have some experience of supervising staff, and the ability and enthusiasm to develop your existing management and leadership skills.
You will need to be able to negotiate, influence others and create effective working relationships. You will have the skills and knowledge to support and supervise staff, within a practice framework, and provide sound consistent advice, demonstrating good judgement. You will have the ability to think innovatively in support of best practice and best value outcomes, and will be keen to lead a service that can make a real difference to people’s lives.

We also promote the opportunity to work flexibly. In the Assessment and Review Team staff attend the office for half of their working week, in order to communicate and hold practice discussions with colleagues and co-located teams in person. For the rest of the working week you will have the option of working remotely.
The Team Manager role within the Assessment and Review Team will be working a 5-day week on a staff rotation basis, over six days; Monday to Saturday, office hours. Saturday working attracts an enhanced rate. Currently Team Managers are required to work on average one Saturday every 8 weeks, though this may be subject to change to meet the needs of the service.
