Day Shifts; Wake Nights; Sleep Nights - 24 hour support is provided by two support colleagues during both days and nights
Preference will be given to applicants who hold a full UK or EU driving licence
Dimensions are proud to have been chosen to provide the support for a gentleman, 'D' who lives in his own home, in Llanfrechfa, Cwmbran NP44 8TX. Over the coming months, we will be working with D, and his current support providers, to ensure D feels safe and secure as he builds relationships with his new support team.
D is a 62 year old man who has a moderate-severe learning disability, Epilepsy, Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC) and a diagnosis of Schizoaffective Disorder.
It is essential that you have experience of supporting people who can have complex emotional responses, along with the ability to work with the utmost respect, integrity and compassion.
To become part of D's support team, you will need to be able to demonstrate:
a sound understanding of the complexities of autism, Epilepsy, anxiety and fluctuating mental health.
a good understanding of positive behaviour support
astute communication skills and the ability to read D's mood through his body language and vocalisations
are willing to undertake Positive Behaviour Management practical & theoretical training
a positive approach to risk taking
enjoy adapting your support style to D's needs on any given day
be able to work as part of a team and follow clear support guidance
be comfortable to provide intimate personal care respectfully
