Offer description

Midlands Partnership Foundation Trust works in partnership with North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare to deliver Talking Therapies services across Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent.

Due to ongoing expansion, we are advertising new trainee posts starting in January 2026 in the following locations:

1. Tamworth
2. Cannock
3. Stafford
4. Seisdon - accessible to Wolverhampton and Birmingham
5. Burton on Trent - with free parking and direct train links to Derby, Nottinghamshire, and Derby

Please specify your locality preference in the Supporting Statement at the end of the application form.

The Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent Wellbeing Service is a creative organization that values staff ideas and strives to adapt to changing expectations. We have strong academic links, with staff involved in teaching university courses and leading professional development sessions locally and nationally. We encourage continuous practice development through internal and external CPD opportunities.

Applicants should provide detailed evidence demonstrating how they meet the criteria on the personal specification and include their locality preference in the Supporting Statement. The role requires studying a 12-month Post-Graduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy at Keele University, starting January 2026, involving three days of clinical work in the locality and two days at university weekly.

The service offers in-house training and supervision, ensuring access to suitable training cases aligned with course requirements. Successful completion of the PG Diploma with no performance issues will lead to Band 7 CBT Therapist posts.

Shortlisted applicants will be forwarded to the university for academic screening on Wednesday 24th September. Those passing will be invited for interviews in early October. Applicants without a recognized core profession by BABCP must submit their KSA portfolio at interview to demonstrate eligibility, with guidance available on the BABCP website.

Applicants should adhere to the 2-year rule set by Health Education England if they have previously undertaken training. This is an excellent opportunity for committed individuals aiming to specialize further as Cognitive Behavioural Therapists.

We seek individuals with some existing knowledge and experience of CBT interventions, especially in treating anxiety and depression, who wish to deepen their specialization. Our teams are dedicated to ongoing clinical training, supervision, and support. The service has a track record of quality, research, and innovation in IAPT service delivery.

Our friendly teams promote staff wellbeing and work in partnership with Staffordshire and Keele Universities. Attached are detailed job descriptions and personal specifications.

This vacancy will close once sufficient applications are received and may close earlier than the advertised date.

Join our award-winning NHS Trust, leading innovative ways to improve community health. With around 9,000 staff, we provide comprehensive physical and mental healthcare, support for learning disabilities, and adult social care across Staffordshire, Stoke-on-Trent, Shropshire, and Telford & Wrekin. We also deliver regional and national services, including perinatal care, eating disorders, forensic services, sexual health, and mental health support in prisons.

We offer excellent career development opportunities with ongoing training and support. Our commitment to inclusivity is reflected in our workplace culture, supporting diversity and community representation.
