Job Description
Reporting into the Finance Director, the Financial Controller will lead a small, friendly, and collaborative finance team while taking ownership of key financial reporting, governance, treasury, and budgeting activities. The role also offers broader exposure across the business, working closely with the FD on strategic development plans and commercial analysis.

Description
* Lead the monthly management accounts process, providing high-quality commentary to the Finance Director.
* Prepare Board reports and ad-hoc recommendations for senior leadership.
* Manage the annual budgeting cycle, external audit process, and taxation requirements (including VAT, CIS, Income Tax).
* Ensure robust financial controls and strong governance across the finance function.
* Manage, mentor, and develop the finance team, setting clear objectives and ensuring delivery.
* Oversee banking compliance and take responsibility for facility covenant reporting.
* Handle treasury management and respond to ad-hoc finance queries.
* Maintain banking relationships alongside the FD and act as a key bank administrator.
* Be the main point of contact with the FD on short-term and mid-term cash management.
* Ensure ongoing compliance with relevant legislative, regulatory and contractual obligations.
* Support the organisation's charitable activities, including annual reporting and distributions.
* Lead and support on various ad-hoc and special projects as required.
Profile
* Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent).
* 2+ years' experience managing and developing a team.
* Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to build trusted relationships.
* Highly proactive, solutions-focused and comfortable driving improvements.
* Exceptional attention to detail
* Able to balance both high-level strategic work and detailed financial tasks.
* Excellent organisational skills, able to manage deadlines and prioritise effectively.
* Strong communication skills - both written and verbal.
* Flexible and adaptable, with a positive "team player" attitude.
* Advanced Excel capability.
