Job Role:
This role will take ownership of space planning across our diverse estate, ensuring optimal utilisation and supporting the Trust’s strategic objectives. You will lead the development and delivery of space and change policies, manage space planning consultants, and implement CAFM-based systems that support data-driven decision-making across our property portfolio.

Our Teams
Working closely with the Property Team and local stakeholders the postholder will assist in matters of space utilisation and Building asset management to maintain an up to date knowledge of current industry trends and developments in order to contribute to strategic decision making.

This role sits within the Estates and Facilities under Group Support Services

Main duties of the job

The Space Planning Lead is responsible for the operational delivery of space planning and utilisation management across the Trust’s estate. The role will combine technical expertise in CAD, Revit, and CAFM systems with knowledge of healthcare planning guidance (HBNs/HTMs) to provide accurate, compliant, and efficient space solutions.
The postholder will be the Trust’s operational lead for maintaining accurate space data, enabling effective planning, restacking, and relocation projects, and supporting the development of the Trust’s Digital Twin capability.

Essential criteria

1. Strong technical ability in CAD/Revit for producing layouts and drawings.
2. Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to clinical and non-technical stakeholders.

Knowledge

3. Good understanding of space utilisation and efficiency metrics.
4. Familiarity with Digital Twin concepts and their integration with CAFM data

Qualifications

Essential criteria

5. Degree in Architecture, Estates Management, or equivalent experience
6. Professional experience in CAD and Revit space planning.
7. Demonstrable experience with CAFM systems and space management modules.
8. Knowledge and application of HBN/HTM guidance in healthcare environments.

9. Commercially aware
10. Good listener, understand requirements in the context of service priorities and can clearly articulate the client vision and solution
11. Ability to communicate effectively at both a high political level and practical operational level including evidence of influencer behaviours
12. Excel and financial modelling awareness
13. Complex report writing skills

14. Experience of delivering space audits, surveys, and restacking projects.
