Job Summary
An excellent development opportunity has arisen within the Commercial Team at NHS Blood & Transplant to build on your skills working on procurement and contract management in a range of categories. This role provides you with an opportunity to develop your procurement career whilst working in a professional team. The role is based at our Blood Centre in Filton, Bristol, the largest blood manufacturing centre in the world. You will undertake an extensive induction and training programme and receive ongoing development to support you in your role and achieve your career ambitions. We are recruiting for two roles: a permanent position in the Sourcing & Procurement team and a 12-month fixed‑term role in the Supplier & Contract Management team.
Main duties of the job
* Work with Senior Commercial Managers, suppliers and internal directorate customers to manage the contracting process end to end, ensuring that all interested parties’ needs are met.
* Assist the National Contracts Managers and National Procurement Manager in delivering contracts that are robust, free from risk, legally binding and cost‑efficient.
* Demonstrate to the public, through internal and external audit scrutiny, that NHSBT obtains best value for money on contracted non‑pay expenditure and achieves savings targets.
* Carry out supplier management to ensure contract delivery of expected benefits and manage supplier performance and, where relevant, supplier development.
* Ensure compliance with Public Contract Regulations, the Procurement Act 2023, and all relevant NHSBT standing orders and financial instructions.
Experience and Knowledge
* Demonstrable experience in a computerised office environment, preferably within procurement or logistics.
* Understand legislation covering goods and services.
* Experience in formal contracting with regulated success.
* Evidence of working and contributing as part of a team.
* Ability to analyse and interpret financial data.
* Basic knowledge of commercial markets.
Qualifications and Training
* Educated to GCSE standard, including Mathematics and English Language, or equivalent experience.
* Willing to study for MCIPS or an equivalent qualification.
* Commitment to continued professional development (CPD).
