Solutions Design Engineer – Automated Material Handling – Hybrid – £55,000–£60,000 + Profit Related Bonus
Samuel Frank is recruiting for a Solutions Design Engineer to join a small, growing automation business delivering automated material handling solutions across a wide range of customers and industries.
This is a role for someone who enjoys variety and ownership. As a Solutions Design Engineer, you will not be tied to one product line or a narrow catalogue, you’ll be encouraged to think commercially and technically, propose option and shape the best solution for each customer.

Key aspects of the Solutions Design Engineer role include:
* Taking customer requirements and turning them into fully costed, tailored solution designs
* Producing conceptual / system layouts using AutoCAD and 3D design tools
* Using your broad knowledge of automated material handling equipment to create workable, scalable designs
* Assessing third party equipment and integrated systems as part of your overall solution
* Supporting the sales process with proposal documentation, quotations and presentations
* Acting as the technical “go to” person, supporting customer meetings and solution discussions
Solutions Design Engineer role will suit someone who is:
* Pro-active, ideas led and confident offering suggestions rather than waiting for instruction
* Comfortable explaining technical solutions clearly to non-technical stakeholders
* Commercially aware, able to balance technical design with cost, risk and deliverability
* Experienced in material handling automation, logistics automation, or a closely aligned sector
* Happy with occasional travel, but primarily operating in a hybrid structure
Key skills / experience expected for the Solutions Design Engineer position:
* AutoCAD for system layouts and concept development
* Exposure to 3D design tools (SketchUp, Demo3D or similar)
* Able to articulate technical solutions clearly to a non-technical audience
