Offer description

Training Programme Director - Emergency Medicine (Ultrasound)

NHS England, working in the Midlands, is seeking to recruit a Training Programme Director (TPD) for Emergency Medicine - Ultrasound on a part-time secondment basis.

As Training Programme Director, you will be responsible for coordinating training across the region. You will ensure that national standards, determined by Royal Colleges, the GMC, and NHS England, are implemented locally. Applicants must be currently working within the East Midlands area at consultant level or equivalent, including SAS doctors in the specialty school area. Experience within the specialty at consultant or SAS doctor level is essential, as is considerable experience working with learners or doctors in training in an educational context.

As part of a national system, a flat rate of £10,000 per PA, per year (or pro rata as necessary) will be paid to a Trust for successful candidates appointed to TPD roles. This should be treated as a contribution towards the overall cost and is not a reflection of the individual's pay.

Main duties of the job

The Training Programme Director is professionally and managerially accountable to the Head of School. The role focuses on improving learner supervision, assessment, and experience, engaging faculty, and ensuring effective educational outcomes. It also involves whole workforce transformation and developing multi-professional links.

To support the Postgraduate Dean, TPDs will work across health and social care sectors within a team, reflecting changing service models. This aims to deliver an integrated workforce from diverse professional backgrounds.

The post is offered on a secondment basis. Candidates must secure written agreement from their employer for release from clinical duties for the specified PAs.

About us

For more information, visit https://www.england.nhs.uk/.

Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend at least 40% of their time working in-person.

If successful, an Inter Authority Transfer (IAT) will be conducted in the Electronic Staff Record system (ESR), gathering information from your current NHS employer to support onboarding. You may opt out of this transfer process at any time.
