Overview
We’re looking for a Registered Veterinary Nurse with at least 2 years of experience to join our friendly and supportive team at Westwood Vets. If you have a passion for nurse consultations and are ready to take the lead in developing this area of our nursing services, we’d love to hear from you!
Role and Responsibilities
You’ll split your time between our two well-equipped branches and work to support and inspire fellow RVNs while collaborating with the vet team. You’ll have the opportunity to help shape our nurse clinics and contribute to a practice that values and encourages professional development.
* Support and lead nurse clinics and nurse-led consultations
* Collaborate with veterinarians and the wider team to deliver high-quality patient care
* Contribute to the development of nursing services and professional growth within the practice
Locations
* Boston Spa (main site) - equipped with in-house blood machines, digital x-ray, ultrasound, endoscopy, and a laparoscopy kit.
* Garforth branch - features in-house lab equipment, ultrasound, and digital dental x-ray.
This split gives you the chance to experience the best of both worlds—rural village life in Boston Spa and the bustling town environment of Garforth.
About Us
We’re a nurse training practice with a long-established and loyal team, made up of 10 vets and 9 RVNs. Our nursing team includes those currently studying for certificates and others who have already completed them. We actively support our team’s professional growth, encouraging individuals to pursue their interests and develop specialist skills.
We pride ourselves on our positive culture and strong team spirit. Many of our staff have been with us long-term—our Head RVN, Sarah, has been with us for over 35 years, and our Clinical Director, Alice, for more than 14. Several of our nurses have been part of the team for over 5 years, reflecting the close-knit environment we’ve created.
We also know the importance of work-life balance. From regular practice social events to coffee chats and dog-friendly shifts, we strive to make each day enjoyable. Lunchtime walks along the river in Boston Spa are one of the small perks of the job.
Clinical Offerings
In addition to strong local referral support, we also carry out orthopaedic procedures in-house, including cruciate surgery using our recently invested MMP kit. This gives our team the chance to gain valuable experience across a range of disciplines.
Why Join Us?
We’re based in a beautiful part of Yorkshire, with easy access to countryside walks and quick links to Leeds and York. Whether you’re after a slower rural pace or the buzz of the city, you’ll find it here. We are also offering a £1500 welcome bonus to our new RVN.
Working Hours
This is a full-time role working 38 hours per week over 4 days, Monday to Friday. You will work either 8:00am-6:00pm or 8:30am-6:30pm. You will also be involved in a 1 in 4 Saturday rota working 8:30am-4:30pm.
