Responsibilities
* To assist with the provision of Cardio-Respiratory services throughout the Trust and partnership agencies and to ensure the delivery of a high standard of service for both routine and emergency work.
* The post holder will have a broad range of skills across the entire service but provide highly specialised supervision of a particular area within that service.
* Service lead physiologists will be expected to continually consolidate and expand their skills by formal and informal means, constantly updating their knowledge in line with local and national policy.
* A commitment to participation in relevant societies and local and national groups and committees is essential.
Clinical & Professional Responsibilities
* Deliver clinical skills and knowledge unsupervised across a wide range of basic and specialised clinical procedures.
* Be proficient in a range of invasive and non-invasive cardiac procedures.
* Provide high quality care for patients and communicate complex information and instructions sensitively to diverse patient groups.
* Regularly communicate information concerning patients and test results to a wide range of staff, giving advice and recommendations as required.
Administrative Responsibilities
* Ensure the accuracy of data quality in line with departmental policies and procedures.
Teaching & Training Responsibilities
* Design and implement training and education programmes in the specialist area.
* Assist with the delivery of education programs across the Trust and liaise with Higher Education Institutes providing teaching and placements as required.
* Participate in mentorship arrangements and support teaching and placements.
Requirements/Qualifications
* RCCP registered Physiologist with sufficient number of years’ post-qualification experience.
* Flexible approach, good communication skills, and ability to work as part of a team.
* Ability to work collaboratively with Consultants, Nurses and other healthcare professionals to maintain high standards across the organization.
* Willingness to participate in out-of-hours sessions and possible 24-hour on-call rota as required.

The Cardio-Respiratory Department provides a high-quality service for basic and advanced cardiac and respiratory diagnostic investigations. A 24/7 service is provided for basic investigations such as ECG and spirometry by Senior ATOs and Assistant Practitioners. The Trust serves a population of over 600,000 with a workforce of over 9,000 across 21 sites.
