HydRegen is delivering biocatalytic hydrogenation technologies to enable more sustainable chemical manufacturing. We operate at the interface of chemistry, biology and engineering, translating enzyme-enabled catalysis from lab to industrial application.
The role
We are seeking a Technical Program Manager to drive delivery across our Chemistry and Engineering teams. This is a hands‑on, onsite role combining project leadership with technical understanding of lab workflows. You will own planning, coordination and execution of interdisciplinary R&D and customer projects, ensuring high‑quality data generation, efficient resource use, and on‑time delivery. Success in this role requires a strong “delivery mindset”, combining structured project management with active engagement in laboratory operations.
Key responsibilities
* Own end‑to‑end delivery of technical projects from feasibility through to scale‑up and deployment
* Define and manage project plans, milestones, KPIs, timelines and resources
* Maintain accurate project tracking (e.g., Gantt charts, task management tools)
* Identify risks, bottlenecks and delays, and drive resolution
* Technical Coordination
o Translate objectives into clear, executable experimental lab workflows
o Work closely with chemistry, engineering and biology teams to ensure alignment
o Maintain visibility of enzyme supply, equipment capacity and experimental throughput
o Support scale‑up activities and tech transfer readiness
* Data & Reporting
o Ensure completeness, accuracy and consistency of experimental datasets
o Review technical outputs and flag data integrity issues
o Prepare concise, decision‑ready updates for senior leadership and external stakeholders
o Coordinate preparation of customer and grant reports
* Operational Excellence
o Maintain active lab presence to observe workflows and identify inefficiencies
o Drive continuous improvement in experimental execution and planning processes
o Standardise practices and improve reproducibility across teams
* Stakeholder Management
o Act as a central coordination point across internal teams and external partners
o Support client interactions, including progress updates and issue tracking
o Translate technical progress into commercial and strategic insights
Requirements
* Degree (BSc/MSc/PhD) in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related field
* Proven experience managing technical or scientific projects in a lab‑based environment
* ≥3 years’ industry experience in hydrogenation, catalysis or closely related chemistry
* Experience with high‑pressure systems or multiphase reactor systems
* Experience spanning lab development through to scale‑up
* Strong understanding of experimental design (DoE), data analysis and process development
* Demonstrated ability to manage cross‑functional teams and deliver against timelines
* Excellent communication and organisational skills
* Familiarity with biocatalysis or enzyme-enabled processes
* Experience in startup or fast‑paced R&D environments
* Exposure to technoeconomic considerations in process development
Working Style
* Highly proactive, structured and delivery-focused
* Comfortable operating between lab and desk‑based environments
* Able to influence without formal authority
* Detail‑oriented with strong problem‑solving capability
We support professional development through increased responsibility, targeted training and opportunities to contribute to external presentations and collaborations.
