Senior Physiotherapist- Weight management

We are looking to recruit a Senior Physiotherapist with a specialist interest in obesity to take up a 9 month fixed term contract within the Tier 3 Weight Management Service (secondment opportunities considered, applicants may wish to gain their line managers agreement before applying).
This fantastic opportunity awaits a dynamic, motivated person to join a team of professionals from Dietetics, Physiotherapy, Psychology and Endocrinology as part of the wider Tier 3 MDT. You will be responsible for the physiotherapy and exercise provision, carrying out assessment and reviews of patients participating in the weight management programme.
This service covers community locations across North Cumbria.
Main duties of the job
* To manage and be responsible for a clinical caseload within appropriate clinical and professional guidelines.
* To perform specialist assessment of the physiotherapy needs of Bariatric Obesity and Specialist Weight Management patients whose needs may be complex.
* To devise and deliver individualised programmes of care for patients within the Specialist Weight Management Service and communicate treatment details to patients, caregivers and members of the multi-disciplinary (MDT) team which could involve working within the various settings including, but not limited to:
o Outpatient clinics - in community and hospital settings
o Group clinics in a community settings
* To attend relevant clinical meetings for Bariatrics and Specialist Weight Management, for example; clinical, operational and audit meetings.
* To take part in joint consultations with other members of the multi-disciplinary team in the management of complex cases.
* To use physiotherapy assessment and expertise to contribute to and help guide multi-disciplinary team and patient decisions.

Qualifications
* CSP recognised Degree/Diploma or equivalent in Physiotherapy
* HCPC registered
* Previous experience of working at a Band 6 level
* Experience of working within a weight management setting
* Teaching / Mentoring of healthcare professionals
* Previous experience of delivering group education and exercise
Knowledge and Experience
* Demonstrable post-registration experience
* Majority of clinical experience in the NHS UK
* Experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team
* Evidence of a contribution to clinical education / supervision of less experienced staff, students or assistants
* Broad range of evidence based clinical assessment and treatment skills based on current best practice
* Demonstrates an ability to comprehend and work within policies on health and safety, risk management and data protection
* Working knowledge of current NHS issues
* Evidence of self-directed learning and willingness to participate in CPD
* Knowledge of key NHS drivers for change and implications for Physiotherapy services
* Knowledge of management of patients with obesity/weight management issues
* Knowledge of clinical audit and outcome measures, and their use in service improvement

* Ability to communicate effectively

* Good organisational and time management skills
* Ability to organise workload of self and others
* Ability to motivate self and others
* Relevant practical physiotherapy skills
* The post holder needs good IT skills, the ability to input data, communicate via email and search for evidence based practice
