Places for People, the UK's leading social enterprise, has secured land on the outskirts of Edinburgh to deliver over 1,300 new homes as part of the city's western expansion. This ambitious development will create vibrant mixed-tenure communities, taking inspiration from new town living and aligning with the Edinburgh City Plan 2030. The masterplan includes a broad mix of homes, landscaped green spaces, improved transport links, and new educational and commercial facilities – all designed to address Scotland's housing emergency and create communities that last for generations.

Reporting directly to and working with the Managing Director in this role you will take responsibility throughout the planning process, gaining consents, reviewing commercial and delivery structures and how they will be implemented via the planning consent, to ensure a viable project whilst paving the way for the commencement of site activities. You will adopt a lead role on site, becoming a focal point for the project including stakeholder relationship management.
There will also be opportunity for involvement across the rest of the Places Developments portfolio and in new business opportunities as the pipeline expands. The role will also provide a more operational function at times across the portfolio, working with the Senior Leadership team focusing on governance, processes and procedures as well as ensuring appointments are in place as needed.

We are looking for an experienced property professional with a proven track record in managing and delivering large-scale, high-profile developments. It is essential that you have significant experience within housebuilding and delivering infrastructure projects, alongside expertise in navigating complex planning applications, negotiating with diverse stakeholders, and managing major capital investment programmes. Strong knowledge of legal structures and agreements is required, as well as a collaborative approach and proactive risk management.
