Job Title: EMEA Senior VAT Analyst Location: Liverpool Street, London (On-Site)
Initial Contract Duration: 6 months (with possibility of extension)
DESCRIPTION
A large international business is seeking a VAT Compliance Tax Analyst to join its International Indirect Tax Compliance team. This role is responsible for the preparation of VAT returns and related filings for France, Italy, Spain, and Sweden, as well as supporting broader VAT compliance activities across the EMEA region.
The successful candidate will work closely with tax, finance, and controllership teams, assist with audits, manage VAT registrations, and contribute to process improvements and automation initiatives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Senior VAT Compliance Analyst will be responsible for:
Preparing, analysing, reviewing, and submitting VAT returns and related filings for France, Italy, Spain, and Sweden
Preparing, analysing, reviewing, and submitting Intrastat and EC Sales List returns as required
Managing VAT registrations across multiple jurisdictions
Assisting with VAT compliance queries from business units operating across EMEA
Mapping VAT processes and identifying opportunities for improvement and solutions to VAT issues
Preparing and reviewing month-end VAT account reconciliations, including the resolution of aged items
Providing support for internal and external audits, including data analysis
Supporting colleagues across the business, particularly within accounting teams, and contributing to the preparation of Tax Requirement Documents for technical teams
Leading and participating in cross-functional projects, with a focus on automation and the development of internal capabilities
Supporting the growth of the business and the onboarding of new entities into VAT compliance processes
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in tax, accounting, finance, or a related field
A minimum of five years of experience working in a VAT advisory or VAT compliance function
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
A recognised accounting or tax qualification (for example, CIMA, ACCA, ACA, AAT, or equivalent)
A proactive approach with the ability to take ownership of work and solve problems effectively
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work within a dynamic and fast-paced environment
A professional and positive attitude with a willingness to learn
Ability to work independently with limited supervision
