The Opportunity:
We are looking for a Childcare Solicitor with proven experience in managing their own caseload of public law children’s matters. While the client is open to applications from all PQE levels, the ability to independently handle cases from instruction to conclusion is paramount. This is an excellent opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children and families, working within a friendly and collaborative team.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Managing a diverse caseload of public law children’s cases, representing children, parents, and other family members.
2. Attending pre-proceeding meetings, Child Protection Conferences, and Legal Planning Meetings.
3. Conducting advocacy in court hearings, including contested hearings.
4. Drafting clear and concise legal documentation, including applications, statements, and orders.
5. Providing sensitive, practical, and clear legal advice to clients.
6. Liaising effectively with local authorities, Cafcass, and other agencies.
7. Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation and case law.
About You:
The ideal candidate will possess:
8. Be a qualified Solicitor.
9. Have demonstrable experience in independently running a caseload of public law children’s matters (essential).
10. A solid understanding of children law, including the Children Act 1989 and relevant case law.
11. Excellent advocacy skills and experience representing clients in court.
12. Strong analytical, research, and drafting abilities.
13. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to empathise with vulnerable clients.
14. A proactive, organised, and resilient approach to work.
15. A genuine passion for childcare law and a commitment to achieving the best outcomes for children.
16. Accreditation to the Law Society Children Panel is desirable but not essential.
