Job Overview
To assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the physiotherapy needs of people with learning disabilities who use our services.
To supervise and teach unqualified staff, including students.
To foster a culture that encourages and enables individuals to actively participate in identifying, planning, and meeting their needs.
To carry out comprehensive assessments, and to plan, implement, and evaluate physiotherapy interventions as part of a holistic approach across various settings.
To demonstrate specialist physiotherapy assessments such as mobility, falls, and tone management using a variety of modalities.
To perform full postural assessments and lead 24-hour postural management programmes, with additional training provided to ensure proficiency.
To work as part of a multidisciplinary team to holistically treat the service user.
To actively involve service users and their carers in developing and agreeing on care plans, acting as advocates and ensuring respect for their dignity, choices, self-esteem, and cultural, sexual, and religious needs.
To practice within the Positive Behaviour Support framework.
To undertake comprehensive risk assessments and develop effective risk management plans.
To collaborate with acute and primary care services and other healthcare providers.
To establish and maintain effective relationships with colleagues, other agencies, service users, and their families.
