The team
ITV’s Group Data Protection and Privacy team plays a key role in supporting the company’s commitment to protecting personal data and upholding the highest standards of privacy across all areas of the business. The team provides expert legal and compliance advice on data protection matters to ensure ITV meets its obligations as a public service broadcaster, production company, publicly listed organisation, employer, streaming service provider, and linear TV channel. Working collaboratively across ITV’s legal, commercial, production, technology, and HR teams, the Group Data Protection and Privacy team helps the business use personal data responsibly to enable innovation, enhance viewer experiences, and support ITV’s growth as a modern, data-driven media company.
The role
We are looking for a Paralegal to join the Group Data Protection and Privacy team on a permanent basis, reporting directly to the Senior Legal Advisor, Data Privacy. This role provides vital support to the Head of Legal, Senior Legal Advisors, and Legal Advisors in delivering privacy advice, guidance, and compliance across ITV’s diverse business activities. You will play a key part in helping the business collect and use personal data responsibly, supporting ITV’s direct-to-consumer initiatives, production activities, and the integration of new production companies. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with Data Privacy’s Senior Legal Advisors and a cross‑functional team of colleagues in Legal & Business Affairs to support all aspects of data protection and privacy compliance within the business.
Some of your key day to day responsibilities will include:
* Provide general legal and compliance administrative support to the Data Protection and Privacy team.
* Assist in preparing and delivering data protection training materials for the business.
* Support the testing, implementation, and ongoing use of data protection technology tools (e.g., Confluence, OneTrust, Prevalent).
* Help develop best practice and improve legal and compliance documentation and risk management processes.
* Draft, update, and maintain internal data protection documents, including policies, notices, and guidelines.
* Assist with privacy assessments, including Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), identifying risks and recommending mitigations.
* Create and maintain Records of Processing Activities (ROPAs).
* Conduct research and horizon scanning to stay up-to-date with data protection and e‑privacy laws, guidance, and regulatory changes.
* Review, advise on, and assist in negotiating standard contracts and templates, including NDAs and data processing/sharing agreements.
* Support data privacy due diligence and document review for strategic projects.
* Collaborate with other legal advisers and compliance teams across the business.
* Assist other members of the wider data privacy legal and compliance team from time to time, including managing data subject rights requests and the team’s mailbox as needed.
Skills you’ll need (minimum criteria)
* Bachelor’s degree in law or postgraduate diploma in law (or equivalent postgraduate qualification in law) or Legal Executive qualification;
* At least 1 year of experience of working as a paralegal, Legal Executive or intern in an in‑house legal team or a law firm.

* Skilled at reviewing and analysing large volumes of information with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, using this insight to produce clear accountability documentation, assessments, and advice.
* Able to work collaboratively and build effective relationships across a range of ITV teams, including Legal and Business Affairs, Commercial, Production, HR, and Group Technology.
* Confident in managing a busy workload, prioritising tasks effectively to meet deadlines.
* Demonstrates a genuine interest in, and some experience with, data privacy and data protection.
* Capable of working both independently and collaboratively, with a flexible and adaptive approach to learning and problem‑solving.
