Social Worker – Integrated Safeguarding Duty and Assessment Service
Newly Qualified Social Workers will commence on Grade 9 pay and job description before progressing to grade 10 after 2 years in post. Experienced social workers will commence at Grade 10 pay and job description. Both job descriptions can be viewed below.
This position qualifies for a market supplement payment of £200 per month. Please note this additional payment will be reviewed on 31 March 2026.
About the Role
We are seeking a committed, skilled and motivated Social Worker to join our Integrated Safeguarding Duty & Assessment Service, a fast‑paced frontline team responsible for safeguarding children and promoting their wellbeing. You will work at the heart of multiagency safeguarding practice, responding to concerns, undertaking proportionate assessments, and ensuring timely, child‑centred decision‑making.
This is a dynamic role where no two days are the same — you will play a vital part in ensuring children are safe, protected, and have their voices heard.
Key Responsibilities
You will undertake a wide range of safeguarding and assessment duties including:
* Triage visits to assess and prioritise new concerns.
* Section 47 enquiries — leading single and joint investigations with Police (preference for candidates who are Section 47 trained or willing to train).
* Joint Police collaboration, attending weekly meetings to prioritise risk.
* Child exploitation visits alongside Police to identify risk and support children.
* Responding to child protection disclosures.
* Information sharing for cases not held by other services.
* Completing high‑quality assessments, including for children with disabilities.
* You will also contribute to MARAC, MAPPA, daily discussion meetings and multi‑agency safeguarding activity.
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for someone who is:
* A qualified and registered Social Worker (Social Care Wales).
* Preferably Section 47 trained (or willing to undertake this training).
* Experienced or interested in safeguarding and assessment work.
* Skilled in communication, analysis, and strength‑based decision‑making.
* Committed to promoting independence, dignity, rights, and child‑centred practice.
What We Offer
* A supportive, inclusive team environment with experienced practitioners and managers.
* High‑quality reflective supervision and regular peer support.
* Ongoing professional development opportunities (including S47/Achieving Best Evidence training).
* Flexible and hybrid working arrangements.
* Opportunities for career progression within the Through Age & Wellbeing model.
If you are passionate about safeguarding, motivated to make a difference, and want to work within a forward‑thinking, values‑based service, we would love to hear from you.
Note: We reserve the right to extend the application closing date.
We are committed to safeguarding and protecting children and adults at risk. As part of this commitment, certain roles within our organisation require a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check to assess the suitability of candidates. This role will require an Enhanced DBS check. Please note that the presence of previous convictions will not necessarily disqualify a candidate from consideration for this position. We assess each applicant on a case‑by‑case basis, and take into account the nature and relevance of any convictions in relation to the responsibilities of the role. Our goal is to create an inclusive and supportive work environment where all individuals are treated fairly and with respect.
