Job Title - Facilities Technician

Reporting To - Facilities Supervisor

Role Purpose

Reporting to the RDC Facilities Supervisor, the purpose of the facilities technician is to support in the delivering of day-to-day maintenance activity, facilities projects and facilities escalation requests. All persons in the facilities department will support the facilities manager and supervisor with,

* Day to day running of the business.
* General maintenance tasks and project work.
* Working as part of a small team you are expected to be responsible for planned and reactive maintenance at the RDC Braintree site. Plumbing work on water heaters, washroom sanitary equipment, catering services and drainage. All plumbing install and maintenance work will be carried out to the relevant British standards.
* General building fabric maintenance in the offices and factory areas including painting, decorating, boarding, carpentry, replacement of fixtures and fittings. All building works will be carried out to relevant British standards.
* Carrying out requests by the facilities manager and supervisor in the interest of the business ensuring that all faults are prioritised and resolved in a timely fashion so that down time is kept to an absolute minimum.
* Follow safe working practices, this includes the development of task specific risk assessment.
* Liaise/escort third party contractors at times to support the facilities team.
* Identify and report damages and major repairs across the site.
* Ensure that all maintenance facilities and equipment are used in accordance with current health and safety regulations, and that good housekeeping standards are always maintained.
* Work independently when safe to do so and be able to work in a team on larger jobs.
* Promote the company in a positive way to colleagues and external contractors.
* Clear unblockages to toilets and drainage in a safe way and always with the correct P.P.E and barriers used.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

* All operatives will have a good understanding of health and safety in the workplace.
* Must be competent raising and working under permits to work/sanctions to test.
* Must be competent at working from complex system drawings and schematics.
* Experienced in fault finding and trouble shooting.
* Have a good understanding of general plumbing and be knowledgeable of legionella and any other water related potential hazards.
* Electrical skills/ Qualifications preferable
