The Technical Services Librarian works under the Technical Services Manager to help support database access and credentialing, library invoice processing, cataloging needs, and electronic resource information management.
Key Responsibilities Include:
1. Work as part of the Technical Services team to provide technical and administrative support for daily requests, including time-sensitive issues such as loss of access to databases, database errors, publication requests, and/or credential and access requests
2. Monitor, respond to, and close technical services requests in ServiceNow request intake system, working as a team to timely address and resolve all questions and information needs
3. Support user access by providing resource credentialing, guidance, and information support; both as part of lateral onboarding as well as by individual request
4. Code and process department invoices and expenses, working with Accounts Payable to streamline vendor registration and timely payment processing
5. Help support invoice accuracy by ensuring detailed and correct invoice metadata, including matching historical coding and resolving coding errors
6. Help support resource ordering, facilitating purchases of print desk copies and ad-hoc print purchases, as approved
7. Ensure compliance with firm purchasing approvals, confirming necessary approvals before subscription purchase
8. Support Contract and Procurement teams, working with account vendors for publication and subscription pricing
9. Help to maintain CORAL [firm open-source electronic resource management (ERM) solution], ensuring currency of resource and vendor information
10. Assist with cataloguing and catalogue maintenance, ensuring currency of MARC records, routing lists, and desk copy information in KOHA open-source library system
11. Help to maintain database user and publication routing lists to ensure currency for access and billing purposes, reviewing usage reports and providing outreach to users and vendor partners as needed
12. Maintain timely offboarding, removing user credentialing and access in compliance with licensing agreements
13. Maintain records of key data indicators, including unexpected budget expenses and requests for purchases or trials
14. Help to maintain accurate and consistent external records, working with vendors to centralize account subscriptions and resolve issues
15. Help to maintain accurate and consistent internal records, ensuring consistent naming and categorization of all documents within the firm’s document management system (DMS)
16. Audit print purchases and standing order lists to ensure continuing need
17. In line with departmental stewardship of firm resources, perform outreach to confirm need and usage of subscription renewals
18. Support firm copyright compliance by annually communicating permissions and licensing restrictions to individual users as part of the renewal process
19. Support team training manual updates by documenting process improvements and best practices, as well as updating sections or adding content as assigned
20. Help to direct and facilitate work for temporary filers or consultants
21. Special projects and additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
22. 5 years of relevant legal, corporate, or industry technical services experience supporting library and research operations as well as electronic resource management.
23. Experience working within a library acquisitions workflow for electronic subscriptions as well as print material purchases
24. Some familiarity with copyright compliance, including reading vendor contracts and licenses to ensure compliance with all negotiated terms
25. Experience with cataloguing, including knowledge of copy and original cataloguing
26. Some experience with legal knowledge management, especially related to the development of consistent metadata in library catalogues
27. Process-oriented, with experience supporting and upholding policies for collection retention and withdrawal of materials
28. Experience coding and facilitating invoice processing in partnership with Accounts Payable team, and under the direction of the Technical Services Manager
29. Some experience working with APIs and data visualization
30. Understanding of legal systems and concepts, with an awareness of the legal industry and current trends

Minimum Education:
44. Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA accredited school or equivalent degree
45. Bachelor's Degree with more than 8 years of relevant experience may be substituted in exceptional circumstances
