Under general supervision this role will primarily be responsible for overseeing and managing daily operations of Flow Cytometry equipment. This includes, but is not limited to, customer interactions, experimental design, data generation & analysis, equipment management and service transactions. The role will also undertake some Health & Safety aspects and will work closely with the established Laboratory Associate based on site. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Flow Cytometry Facilities Management: Conduct management of every aspect of the flow cytometry facility, including operation, maintenance and organisation. Operates the facility within safety guidelines for instrument operation, as well as chemical and biological safety standards. Perform instrument setup for cell sorting and assist the research team in acquisition and sorting of cells. Educate core laboratory scientists with respect to sample requirements for specific experimental goals. Work with investigators to explore and optimize current and emerging techniques. Work independently or together with research team to establish analysis strategies for flow cytometry-based assays. Instrument Maintenance, Standardisation, and Quality Assurance: Establish and/or modifies and/or implements Standard Operating Procedures for routine instrument maintenance and performance evaluation. Perform calibration/alignment, maintenance, trouble-shooting, first line repair of cytometers and associated facility instruments. Document instrument performance, maintenance, service and corrective actions Cytometry Training: Provide training for investigators with respect to the basics of the technology, instrument startup/shutdown and maintenance, data acquisition and transfer, and data analysis as needed. Lab Operations oversight role Assist in delivering the laboratory asset management program (LAMP) including; daily servicing, maintenance, troubleshooting and vendor management of benchtop laboratory equipment in the Flow Cytometry lab. Assists in Managing HSE programs and initiatives to meet regulatory requirements and HSE needs of the local client. Contributes to the evaluation of new and existing programs to assess suitability and the need for changes. Support the process for monitoring injury, illness, and incident related performance within the assigned account. Support the development and implementation of strategic solutions that will improve the performance results as required.
