Technical Consultant – Network and Security

Job Summary
The role of Technical Consultant within CDW Professional Services is to consult, design, plan and implement complex technical projects. It requires working closely with Principal Technical Consultants and other technical teams while supporting Sales and Solutions teams to provide the technical expertise needed to close sales opportunities and propose current plans to better serve customers. Responsibilities include technical presentations, solution demonstrations, solution design/configuration, proposals, bid response documentation, Statement of Work creation, time and material estimates and validation, high‑level and low‑level design documentation, all while ensuring the highest level of quality assurance. Candidates must be eligible for Security Clearance and adhere to CDW policies and GDPR best practices.
Key Responsibilities
* Acts as a mentor and technical escalation point in all areas where considered a subject matter expert, providing expert‑level knowledge in issue resolution, standards, design, best practice, delivering quality and reference target architectures.
* Works closely with Account Managers, Project Managers, Solution Architects, customers and other teams as required.
* Designs and delivers implementation services across a wide range of clients and technologies.
* Creates technical documentation as required.
* Develops low‑level designs, diagrams and Statements of Work.
* Creates and presents customer‑facing documentation.
* Renews/updates required certifications.
* Works with clients on assigned projects to identify commercially viable, technical solutions to business problems and streamline business processes.
* Ensures projects are executed and completed within agreed time, quality, scope and cost parameters, applying appropriate governance to maintain and manage risks, changes and issues.
* Is accountable as a lead technical role on one or more projects, ensuring solutions are captured in a Statement of Work or Project Initiation Document, analyzed, designed and delivered to industry or CDW best practices.
* Assists in the design of Proof‑of‑Concept scenarios, type approval activities in the CDW labs and for a client’s needs.
* Assists in the creation of test‑type documentation and test scenarios.
* Ensures personal objectives and KPI targets are met or exceeded.
* Proactively questions and evaluates existing systems, standards, documentation and procedures, making recommendations for improvement.
* Is accountable for embracing and enhancing CDW’s brand, and that of Operations and Professional Services, inside and outside CDW.
Essential Skills
* FortiGate
* Traditional Nexus
* Deep understanding of TCP/IP protocols and fundamentals of networking equivalent to CCNP level.
* Strong hardware, switching and routing experience in data centre and enterprise networks.
* Strong understanding of Palo Alto or FortiGate firewalls.
* Excellent documentation skills to create Test Plan documents, Visio diagrams and other documentation like statements of work.
* Juniper
* Network performance monitoring and packet capture and analysis.
* Network automation knowledge, including using API, programming, scripting and orchestration skills.
Essential Certifications
* Cisco Wireless (CCNP)

* Fortinet NSE
* Checkpoint CCSE
* CCNP Enterprise
