71% of returns are fit-related, generating 4 billion pounds of textile waste annually and contributing to <10% of global carbon emissions. We use AI and data science to help fashion brands get the cut right in production, preventing returns and waste at the source rather than just predicting them. Our platform acts as an AI co-pilot for buying and production teams, turning 30 years of fashion expertise into data-backed decisions.
Founded by Phoebe Gormley, we've just closed the UK's largest female-founded pre-seed ($4m) led by Albion and SuperSeed, setting us up to build the team and product that will fix fashion's fit problem.
The role:
Fit Collective's success depends on deeply understanding customer data and putting it to work. Working alongside a cross-functional data and engineering team you’ll contribute to key product initiatives, including:
* Customer-facing web app: Develop the interface that surfaces actionable insights to buying and production teams at the right moment
* AI pre-production co-pilot: Build the next-generation product that guides designers through the creation process, preventing fit issues before garments are made
* Customer onboarding platform: Allow our customers connect their systems (PLMs, Shopify, returns data) to our platform through a guided, self-service flow
* AI-powered features: Working alongside our data team, you'll build the interfaces that surface predictions and insights to users
* E-commerce integrations: Create plugins that inject personalized size recommendations directly into product pages in real-time.
Your work will directly impact returns, revenue, and waste for major fashion brands.

* Cloud & Infrastructure: Docker, AWS (ECS/ECR, Lambda, RDS, S3, Cloudfront, etc.)
* Cache & Search: Redis (ElastiCache), Elasticsearch (AWS OpenSearch)
What We’re Looking For:
Must-haves:
* 3+ years software engineering experience: ideally with TypeScript and Python, in production environments
* Frontend expertise: Strong React skills - you can build responsive, polished interfaces that users love
* Backend fundamentals: Experience building APIs (FastAPI or similar) and working with relational databases
* Cloud-native mindset: You've deployed and maintained production systems on AWS (or similar) and understand how to build for scale
* Startup DNA: You've either worked at an early-stage company or built and shipped side projects from scratch that people actually use.
Nice-to-haves:
* Background in ML infrastructure or serving models in production
* Experience building AI-powered features or LLM integrations
* Worked with Redis or Elasticsearch
* Experience integrating with third-party platforms (Shopify, PLMs, ERPs)
* Understanding of the fashion/retail industry

Overview:
* Location: UK-based
* Work Style: Hybrid (~2 days per month in the office in London)
* Employment Type: Full-Time
* Salary: £60-100K/year (depending on experience)
