Job title: Business Support Officer (Grade 4) Job Category: Admin & Clerical

Location: Telford Street, Newport, Newport, NP19 0ES, Newport City Council

Hours Per Week :
37.00 Pay : £13.26 per hour


Job Purpose

The main purpose of the post is to provide clerical and administrative support to the team leader and to assist customers with their enquiries.


Key Result Areas

To communicate in person, by telephone and in writing with customers and partners of the crematorium.

To carry out a range of administrative tasks, including those associated with cremations.

To receive payment for crematorium services, issue receipts and keep records in compliance with the Council’s financial regulations.

To assist the team leader in building and maintaining effective relationships with the crematorium’s partners, such as funeral directors, officiants and suppliers of goods and services.

To assist customers with enquiries relating to funerals and memorials.

To undertake such other duties of a related nature as may be required for the proper and successful operation of the crematorium.


Qualifications

* Minimum of 5 GCSEs (A-C) or NVQ Level 2 or relevant experience.
* Ideally working towards ICCM Crematorium Certificate.
* Minimum of two years relevant experience of dealing directly with customers and partners.
* Willingness to undertake first‑aid training.
* Experience.
* Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with customers, partners and colleagues.
* Able to plan and organise workloads and ensure completion of work to agreed standards.
* Able to show and understanding and sympathetic attitude towards the bereaved.
* Familiarity and competence with Windows based software.
* Literacy and numeracy skills.
