At its site in Middlewich, Cheshire, UK (with immediate central links to the M6), Indaver operates a solvent recycling facility; accepting hazardous and non-hazardous (waste) solvents, providing bespoke recovery solutions, Indaver is able to support the customers with lab analysis, pilot scale trials, and recycling at commercial scale.
The CDM & Construction Manager will be responsible for ensuring compliance with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (CDM ) across large and complex capital projects at Indavers Middlewich site.
This role will act as the Principal Contractor on behalf of Indaver when required, ensuring safe and efficient project delivery, contractor coordination, and adherence to all legal and corporate HSEQ standards.
Role & Responsibilities
1. Lead implementation of CDM requirements throughout the project lifecycle. Support the Client and Principal Designer in fulfilling statutory CDM duties.
2. Develop, maintain, and review the Construction Phase Plan (CPP) and ensure full site compliance.
3. Oversee pre-construction information, risk assessments, and method statements (RAMS).
4. Manage the Health and Safety File and ensure appropriate documentation handover at project completion.
5. Act as Principal Contractor on behalf of Indaver for designated projects.
6. Coordinate and control all site construction activities to ensure a safe and compliant working environment.
7. Chair daily coordination meetings and ensure effective communication between contractors, designers, and the client team.
8. Monitor site performance, including HSEQ standards, permits, and contractor competence.
9. Lead site inductions, toolbox talks, and behavioural safety initiatives.
10. Support project planning, scheduling, and logistics for multi-contractor environments.
11. Ensure works are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards
12. Ensure all projects comply with company policies, procedures, and Integrated Management System requirements.
Experience and Qualifications Required
13. Degree or equivalent in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
14. NEBOSH Construction Certificate (minimum); NVQ Level 6/7 in Construction Health & Safety or equivalent desirable.
15. Demonstrable experience acting as Principal Contractor or CDM Manager on large industrial, energy, or process plant projects.
16. Strong working knowledge of CDM, HSE guidance, and relevant UK legislation
17. Proven ability to manage multiple contractors and complex construction interfaces.
18. Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
