About The Role: Working Pattern: Monday to Friday This is a nationwide role and will require regular travel to sites across the UK. Role Overview Fire Management input to provide expert advice and guidance to the OCS UK&I Business including Operational Directors, Senior Managers & Operational Management teams on effective and robust Fire Safety Management. This is a Senior role within the OCS UK&I business and will report directly into the OCS UK&I Technical Director. The role includes developing and being the ‘owner’ of the OCS UK&I Fire Management policy, procedures and accompanying processes including premises fire strategy, fire risk assessment, fire PPMs and logbooks, ensuring these remain effective and fit for purpose through regular reviews. Undertake monitoring and over-sight activities to ensure the business operates within the relevant legislation, guidance and industry best practice to ensure that all aspects of fire safety management effective and compliant. Key Responsibilities: Act as the subject matter expert for OCS UK&I on fire safety management, including fire strategies, risk assessments, statutory/mandatory PPMs, and logbooks. Provide expert guidance to internal stakeholders and clients on fire safety legislation, including the Building Safety Act, and support implementation of fire safety arrangements. Advise on fire separation, compartmentation, engineered solutions, and risk reduction through enhanced PPM delivery. Own and maintain the Fire Safety Management policy, procedures, and processes, ensuring they remain current and effective. Lead the embedding of fire safety policies into new contracts and business areas, ensuring clarity and compliance. Deliver awareness training and collaborate with the QHSE Training team to ensure suitable courses are available. Set competency standards for fire safety roles and support assessment of internal teams and subcontractors. Provide coaching and mentoring to operational management teams. Conduct site visits and audits to monitor compliance, identify gaps, and implement improvement plans. Support operational compliance teams and maintain accreditations through stakeholder collaboration. Lead investigations into fire incidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions. Represent OCS UK&I at client meetings and fire safety groups. Produce monthly reports for senior executives and advise on appointments of Responsible and Competent Persons. Stay up to date with legislation and industry best practices to ensure robust guidance is provided. About You: Essential: Relevant industry recognised Diploma/ degree qualification in fire safety management. Member of recognised fire safety professional body such as Institute of Fire Engineers and maintain CPD. Expert knowledge of fire safety legislation, relevant HTMs, JSP’s and British Standards. Experienced in drafting fire strategies and buildings fire engineering controls. Experience in investigating significant events and in dealing with enforcement agencies. Hands-on delivery. Able to operate and communicate competently at all levels, both internally and externally. The ability to demonstrate proactive customer relationship management and effective relationship building. Full UK driver’s license. Desirable Experience: MSc/BSc Fire Engineering/Fire Safety Engineering (Desirable but not essential). CEng or Eng or working towards (Desirable but not essential). Knowledge of CAFM systems, including all fire related management PPMs. A working knowledge of environmental law is preferred. Sound knowledge of Health and Safety compliance and statutory requirements placed on the business.
