Functional Bowel Disease Clinical Nurse Specialist
A unique opportunity has arisen to improve the health and quality of life of thousands of patients misdiagnosed with IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) across Lincolnshire. United Lincolnshire Hospitals Trust are searching for a full time (1 wte) Band 7 highly motivated, committed, confident, enthusiastic and outstanding nurse for this post.
Main duties of the job
* The post holder will be an experienced nurse with a demonstrable track record of leading a team and innovating a service.
* You need to be able to think outside the box and work autonomously as well as be part of a wider, supportive team.
* You will receive comprehensive training in the management of patients with IBS-like / functional bowel symptoms.
* You will be expected to help transfer the management of these patients from hospital-based care to primary care services utilising a wide skillset which encompasses confident practice and excellent communication.
* In the longer term, you will be encouraged and supported to achieve the qualifications which will equip you to become a nurse consultant and run your own service.

Essential
* Registered General Nurse
* Degree or degree level education 998 or equivalent teaching qualification
* Evidence of continued professional development
* Evidence based research/care
* Physical Assessment and History Taking Course
Desirable
* Working towards Masters level education
* Prescribing qualification
* Counselling course
* GCP/Research qualification/experience
Previous Experience
Essential
* Previous experience in gastroenterology
* Understand in principle about a wide spectrum of GI disorders
* Understanding of nutrition
* Experience of multidisciplinary team working
* Teaching of other health care professionals
* Evidence of implementing changes in practice
* Experience of teaching in the practice setting
Desirable
* Experience in Nutrition
* Experience in Endoscopy
* Experience of undertaking clinical audit.
* Experience of working as an autonomous practitioner
* Previous experience as a CNS within a gastroenterology specialty
