The Role (Full time with Part time available)

The primary mission of the Mission Community Armed Forces Engagement Lead is to champion the Armed Forces in society by recognizing, celebrating, and demonstrating the value of every member of the Armed Forces to communities across the country. We are an advocacy body, a brand of the long-established Service charity Mission Motorsport, sharing administrative functions as one charity.

Our current focus is on communities within industry through our work with the Office for Veterans Affairs’ ‘Veterans Industry Engagement Programme’, funded by the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust (AFCFT) grant. These initiatives involve our ‘Missions’, Sector Initiative campaigns, and collaborations with industry trade bodies, organizations, and companies. These are the main stakeholders our AFELs interact with daily.

This role is strategic and tactical, requiring an individual comfortable communicating with senior industry leaders, participating in events, hosting meetings, and delivering KPIs. This includes our National Transition Event at Silverstone, which annually hosts over 1,900 members of the Armed Forces community. Our team is small, independent, open, and inclusive, approaching projects collaboratively.

* Act as an ally of MoD, Office for Veterans’ Affairs, Career Transition Partnership, Defence Relationship Management, and Reserve Forces C Cadets Associations.
* Ensure accurate recording of engagement activities via reports and team updates.
* Contribute to the development of sector guides and other outputs with industry partners.

Essential Knowledge & Experience

* Proven ability to build relationships and market ideas within a business context, advocating for underrepresented groups.
* Experience managing high-level external relationships up to C-suite level.
* Empathy and understanding of the Armed Forces community; veterans, service families, and reservists are encouraged to apply, though not mandatory.
* Experience collaborating with companies on employment challenges and opportunities.
* Knowledge of the Defence employer engagement landscape in the UK, including DRM, RFCAs, CTP, and COBSEO.
* Understanding of industry sectors at a strategic level.

* Ability to manage challenging situations calmly and professionally.
* High integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism.
* Flexible, adaptable, and able to prioritize competing demands.
* Proactive, collaborative, and comfortable working in diverse environments.

Additional benefits include 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, hybrid working, and occasional UK weekend work with TOIL applicable. Salary: £41,200 full-time, with part-time options available for discussion.

Timelines: Closing date 25 July 2025. Interviews start w/c 28 July 2025.
