Job overview
To manage an agreed clinical caseload as part of the trauma & orthopaedic team, providing advanced Occupational Therapy assessment, diagnosis, treatment and advice to patients who may have diverse and complex orthopaedic presentations.
To take a responsible place in the multi-disciplinary team promoting the role of Occupational Therapy and taking an active part in effective discharge planning.
Main duties of the job
Work as part of an integrated Orthopaedic Therapy Team to provide Specialist Occupational Therapy to a mixed case of trauma and elective inpatients. Work as part of wider orthopaedic and hospital MDT to facilitate rehabilitation and discharge planning.
Working for our organisation
The Therapy Services Department at Harrogate & District NHS Foundation Trust provides a service for the community living in the Harrogate & Rural locality of the North Yorkshire & York Primary Care Trust or for patients who are in-patients in the Trust or are referred through Consultant episodes of care, General Practitioners or primary care teams. Occupational Therapists work within multi-disciplinary teams within care pathways and have access to other professionals to ensure that a multi-disciplinary approach is taken to patient care, ensuring that individual needs are met.
The Orthopaedic Therapy team is an integrated team comprising Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Rehabilitation Assistants. Trauma and Orthopaedic services are managed within the Planned and Surgical Care Directorate.

Qualifications
* HCPC registered OT
* Car driver with access to a car for home visits
* Student Clinical Educator training
* Previous Band 6 experience
* Evidence of relevant post-graduate training/CPD in speciality area
* Prior experience of audit/service development
