We are partnering with a rapidly growing and highly entrepreneurial pharmacy group to appoint a Head of Procurement, a newly created leadership role critical to the next phase of expansion.This is a high-impact opportunity to build and lead a best-in-class procurement function, with a particular focus on parallel import (PI) strategy supplier optimisation, and cost competitiveness across a multi-site pharmacy network.
Job Description
Reporting directly to the managing director, you will take full ownership of procurement strategy, with a core remit to enhance margins, strengthen supply resilience, and unlock growth through an effective PI model.Key responsibilities include:
3. Developing and executing a group-wide procurement strategy, aligned to growth and margin objectives
4. Leading and optimising parallel imports (PI) sourcing, ensuring commercial advantage and regulatory compliance
5. Building strong relationships with international suppliers and PI partners
6. Driving cost-down initiatives, rebate structures, and supplier consolidation
7. Managing stock availability and mitigating supply chain risk across retail pharmacy operations
8. Establishing robust governance, reporting, and controls across procurement activity
9. Building and leading a high-performing procurement team as the function scales
The Successful Applicant
We are seeking a commercially driven procurement leader with deep expertise in pharmaceutical sourcing.You will demonstrate:
10. Proven experience in a senior procurement role within pharmacy, wholesale, or pharmaceutical distribution
11. Strong, hands-on experience of parallel imports (PI), including supplier networks, pricing dynamics, and compliance considerations
12. A track record of delivering margin improvement and cost savings in a regulated environment
13. Excellent supplier negotiation and relationship management skills, ideally with exposure to European markets
14. Strong analytical capability, with the ability to make data-driven commercial decisions
15. Leadership experience, with the ability to build and scale teams in a fast-paced environment
