MRI Superintendent Radiographer

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Superintendent role at Epsom General Hospital. The MRI unit has recently undergone renovation and now features a newly installed Siemens Sola MRI scanner with advanced cardiac imaging capability. The department also operates a GE Artist MRI scanner, supporting a wide range of examinations across multiple specialties. This modernised facility provides advanced imaging capabilities and an excellent environment for delivering high‑quality patient care and developing MRI services.
Responsibilities
* Provide professional, operational, and strategic leadership for the MRI service, overseeing day‑to‑day running, ensuring safe and efficient delivery, and maintaining high standards of patient care.
* Manage and support the MRI team, coordinate staffing and training, and promote continuous professional development.
* Ensure compliance with MRI safety standards and national guidelines, maintain quality assurance processes, and support clinical governance and audit activities.
* Plan and optimise service workflow and patient pathways, support implementation of new techniques such as advanced cardiac MRI, and collaborate with radiologists, cardiologists, and multidisciplinary teams.
* Lead the delivery of a safe MRI service for all users, participate in research and audit activity, and commit to professional development.
* Organise the rotational staff and resources, ensuring effective utilisation of available resources.
* Meet patient needs and expectations, ensuring all patients are seen within Trust and National targets.
* Provide line management to Radiographers, conduct appraisals, assist with recruitment, and retain staff.
* Maintain a sensitive and courteous approach to all patients.
Qualifications
* BSc (Hons) in Diagnostic Radiography
* HCPC registration
* Management courses/Leadership training
* SOR/University Cannulation Certificate
* PGC/Master’s in a relevant course
Experience
* 3 years of MRI experience
* Advance practice in MRI
* MRSO training
