Offer description

We are seeking to appoint an experienced General Manager tolead Care Group 3 (which includes Childrens services both acute and community,Maternity, Pharmacy, Outpatients, womens health and much more).

You will report to the Director of Operations and the CareGroup Director, working closely with the Chief Operating Officer to drive highstandards of quality care. You will be part of the leadership team for the caregroup contributing to the ongoing ethos of delivering excellent care to ourlocal community.

Your leadership will contribute to the development andimplementation of the Care Groups service strategy, annual plan and theday-to-day operational management to ensure the standards of clinical care,delivery of key performance indicators and continual development of improvingproductivity and efficiency. This post leads large and complex portfolios ofservices. The post holder will be pivotal in delivering national accessstandards.

The role is aimed at experienced senior operational leadersin the NHS and who bring significant acute and community experience. We wouldlike to hear from people operating at a senior level, as well as ambitious andexperienced leaders who are ready for the next step forward in their careers,with a desire to be part of an exciting future facing organisation with anenergy and passion to drive forward change.

37.5 hours per week


Main duties of the job

You will be able to lead a clinical and non-clinical teamwith, courage and respect and drive with care for our patients and colleaguesat the forefront of your approach.

Working within the team of General Managers you will have apeer network for support, along with direction from the Chief Operating Officerand Director of Operations. Your input and skills will be essential in shapingthe overall patient focused service that we are proud to deliver at TheRotherham NHS Foundation Trust. Line management for the General Managers is viathe Divisional Directors, (DD) but the successful applicant will be expected tomanage the day-to-day operational service supporting the Care Group Director indeveloping strategy and improving services.

The successful applicant will have demonstrable operationalmanagement experience extensive health care knowledge and experience theability to manage complex organisations, and able to develop positiverelationships across hierarchies and professions.

Person Specification


Experience

* Senior operational management experience (minimum of 5 years at middle manager/senior manager level), including significant budget and staff management experience.
* Evidence of ability to lead successful change.
* Evidence of significant project management experience.
* Health service sector experience.
* Experience of strategy development.
* Experience of working across organisational boundaries
* Knowledge of quality improvement tools and techniques
* Professional registration with Chartered Management Institute


Qualifications

* Graduate level or equivalent academic or healthcare professional qualification
* Evidence of continuing professional development demonstrating specialist knowledge of: Planning and performance management, Financial and resource management, Workforce planning and development
* Masters degree or equivalent
* Member of a clinical and/or management professional body


Knowledge and skills

* Highly developed leadership skills
* Excellent communication skills both written and oral
* Strong relationship development and management skills with senior management, peers and senior clinical colleagues
* Excellent analytical skills
* Ability to develop and manage staff
* Robust NHS and health care knowledge
* Coaching / mentoring experience/ skills
