Job Description:
As we move into AMP 8 and continue with our growth plans across the UK & Ireland, we're interested in hearing expressions of interest from Consultants seeking their next career opportunity in the coming weeks and months.
Stantec UK is seeking a highly experienced geoarchaeologist at Senior or Principal grade for any of our UK offices, preferably Reading. The role involves providing technical advice, conducting field investigations with colleagues, delivering and assuring complex reports, focusing on water, highways, and infrastructure clients.
This role offers the opportunity to join a global sustainable engineering, architecture, and environmental consultancy. You will work within professional, collaborative, multi-disciplinary teams to deliver high-quality archaeological and geoarchaeological consultancy services for projects ranging from small to nationally significant. Collaboration with the wider Stantec Archaeology and Heritage team will be essential to identify risks and opportunities within our project portfolio.
Responsibilities include providing advice, risk analysis, and research for various schemes, including permitted development, planning applications, EIA, and DCO. You will prepare and contribute to technical documents such as Desk-Based Assessments, Evaluation Reports, Environmental Impact Assessments, and others. The role involves reviewing borehole data, geophysical surveys, digital datasets, and literature, as well as site visits, aerial photograph and LiDAR analysis, geoarchaeological watching briefs, and report writing. You will liaise with local authorities, Historic England, and stakeholders to develop and implement evaluation and mitigation strategies, oversee fieldwork, and coordinate paleoenvironmental assessments.
About You
You will be a motivated individual with a passion for UK archaeological science, legislation, planning policy, and guidance. You should have professional consultancy experience, excellent report writing skills, and preferably GIS experience. Geoarchaeological fieldwork experience, membership of CIfA at Associate level or above, and a full clean UK driver’s license are required.
